Vice Mayor- Lakewood/Old Hickory Tennessee

Community has always been important to me so I wanted to help secure a safe and thriving environment for children. I then decided to step up and run for city Commissioner for a beautiful lake community just 19 miles east of Nashville, TN. Due to the overwhelming votes of the local citizens, I was elected to the position of Vice-Mayor as well as the city’s planning and zoning board.

During my term as Lakewood’s Vice Mayor, I created a 501C3 Not-for-profit for the city known as The Friends of Lakewood. This not for profit assisted children in our community as well as beautification and neighborhood watch programs and was fully funded with my Vice Mayoral Salary as well as local citizen and business owner donations.

I am currently completing my audio book in honor of my mother titled "Permission to Live" available in the Summer of 2017. This book comes from the desire and passion to teach women to dust of their dreams and check off their bucket list BEFORE it’s too late! I currently travel all over the world as a guest speaker in Church’s to Major Companies and Conferences sharing this message of Life/Work/Balance.

Retired from the State of Tennessee with 35 years of service. During the last eight years of my tenure, I was appointed by the Governor to the position of Administrator (Assistant Commissioner) of Human Resources for the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. This position was responsible for all aspects of Human Resources for 2000+ employees.
In my role as the Administrator of Human Resources I wore many hats which consist of all aspects of HR. In addition, I would advise the Commissioner of staff needs and would assist managers in their areas when looking at workload assessment for each respective program.  I worked closely with the Financial Officer and Federal personnel on state and federal dollars for positions to be budgeted for each calendar year. I would counsel employees to maximize their full potential for a career path in the areas we deemed to be their greatest strengths.

In addition, I was responsible for the automation of all the HR records in accordance with the State Records Act, responsible to provide oversight for the State Employee Wellness Program, Sick Leave Bank, New Employee Orientation, Service Awards, Family Medical Leave Act, Training Program and numerous other departmental program.

I also served on numerous committee (representing the Commissioner).  Served on the Board for the Tennessee Domestic Violence (working with other committee members in drafting rules and regulations to be taken before the State Legislature.

My husband and I have developed residential properties in Historical Old Hickory as well as on Old Hickory Lake. In addition we have worked with first time homebuyers for our rental properties as well as help them own the American Dream!

I owned a fabulous clothing store in Greenbrier, TN. I loved getting to know my customers, while gaining their friendships by learning about their dreams and aspirations.
